Kabul says Taliban attacks endanger Afghan peace
21 Mar 2020
The presidential palace in a statement has said that the continuation of Taliban attacks in various parts of Afghanistan endanger the ongoing efforts for peace.
The statement has strongly condemned Taliban attack on Afghan security forces’ outpost in Zabul Province and warned against continuation of such attacks.
At least 17 Afghan security and local police forces have been killed after Taliban infiltrators stormed a security outpost in Zabul Province on the first day of the new solar year. Afghan defense ministry warned it would retaliate the attack.
Meanwhile, NATO civilian envoy Nikolas Kay has described the attack “barbaric and disgraceful.”
“What kind of people can order and do this to fellow Afghans on the day of Nowruz, in the midst of a global pandemic & after professing commitment to peace? Shameful,” he said on his twitter.
The Taliban have so far not reacted to the development.
