US Special Peace Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has met with Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the presidential palace.

Khalilzad and Afghan officials discussed the Afghan peace process, extension of ceasefire, reduction of violence and the launch of intra-Afghan negotiations, the presidential palace said in a statement.

In the meantime, Sapidar announced that Abdullah Abdullah in his meeting with Khalilzad and US Chargé d’affaires Ross Wilson stressed the need to reduce violence before the start of the intra-Afghan talks.
