US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has announced the end of his two-day visit to Kabul.

Mr. Khalilzad wrote on Twitter that he had spoken with government officials, civil society members, and women’s rights defenders over the past two days, and that they supported the acceleration of the peace talks.

The US Special Envoy for Afghanistan emphasizes that the support of all parties for a lasting political stability and permanent ceasefire has further encouraged him in this process.

  Mr. Khalilzad says a just and lasting peace means protecting the rights of all citizens and ending the long war in the country.
