A man in Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz Province shot dead eight members of a single family on Saturday night, according to provincial police officials.

The shooter killed his brother, sister-in-law and five nephews aged four, five, seven and ten years old and wounded two others, police said.

The incident occurred as a result of a land dispute and the shooter has been arrested by police.

In a separate report, a man in Laghman Province has killed his wife and mother-in-law.

Local official said the man gunned down his wife and mother-in-law due to family disputes and then fled the area.
