Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) and Uzbekistan have signed an agreement on starting direct flights between Tashkent and northern Mazar-e-Sharif City.

Officials of the ACCA say their priority is to expand flights with regional countries, adding that after the capital Kabul, Balkh is the second province where direct flights to Tashkent and vice versa will begin soon.

Head of Uzbekistan’s Transport Development Ulugbek Baktash said:” We will provide facilities for the flights from Tashkent to Afghanistan. We took steps to begin flights from Balkh and signed an agreement in this regard.”

The Uzbek official expressed hope that signing of the agreement between the two countries was important for transportation of goods and creation of facilities for passengers.

Earlier, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan established a joint trade center to solve business problems between the two countries.
