A group of unknown assailants have stormed a hospital in west of Kabul City today morning.

Confirming the incident, the Afghan interior ministry said the attackers stormed the hospital at 10:00 am local time in Kabul’s 13th police precinct and got engaged in fighting with Afghan security forces.

The interior ministry has not yet commented on the casualties. The Afghan presidential palace has strongly condemned the attack.

According to eyewitnesses the sounds of gunfire could still be heard from the site of the explosion. No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
