Mine blast kills and injures five security forces in Balkh

At least five Afghan security forces were killed and injured as a result of a mine explosion in northern Balkh Province.
The explosion occurred at a security outpost in Pol-e Bangala area of Balkh district, killing two and injuring three others, Spokesman for 209 Shaheen Military Corps Hanif Rezai said.
Rezai added that the Taliban attempted to capture the security outpost but faced strong resistance from Afghan army soldiers.
Five Taliban fighters were also killed and injured during the firefight, he further added.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the report.
