At least 12 people were killed and injured after a mortar shell hit the compound of northeastern Kunduz Governor’s Office.

According to local sources, a mortar shell hit the volleyball playground of Kunduz Governor’s Office, killing four bodyguards of the governor and injuring eight others including 6 police and two staff members of the office.

The mortar shell hit the compound of the Governor’s Office at a time when soldiers were playing volleyball, Provincial Governor Spokesman Esmatullah Muradi said, accusing the Taliban of being involved in the attack, however, the Taliban denied any involvement.
