At least four civilians including women and children have been killed and injured as a mortar fired by anti-government insurgents hit a village in Darqad district of Takhar Province, defense ministry said in a statement.

The attack claimed the life of a teenage girl and injured three others, including two women and a child, the statement added.

The health conditions of the wounded are satisfactory, the statement further added.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the report.
