The National Directorate of Security (NDS) officers have arrested 220 individuals on various criminal charges in western Herat Province over the past five months.

The individuals were arrested following 150 operations in Herat city and districts, the NDS said in a statement.

NDS officers also seized quantity of weapons from the detainees.

In a separate report, eight civilians including a children sustained injuries after a rocket mistakenly fired by a NDS officer hit their residence.
