No progress has been made in peace talks – Abdullah
19 Oct 2020
Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) Abdullah Abdullah told an Iranian TV channel that Afghan citizens’ expectations of the peace talks in Qatar have not been met yet, and on the contrary, the scale of insecurity and violence has increased.
Abdullah has also emphasized that raising the issue of an interim or transitional government does not contribute to the current situation in the country.
In the meantime, Abdullah met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
According to Sapidar, Ghalibaf said his country supported a peace process that guarantees the interests of the people of Afghanistan and protects the country’s independence and territorial integrity.
Ghalibaf also said that peace in Afghanistan was in the interest of peace, stability and development in the region
