Pakistan reopens airspace to civilian flights
16 Jul 2019
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority announced that the country’s airspace had been reopened to all types of civilian flights.
Pakistan’s airspace was closed to civilian flights after India carried out an air strike against what it described as a terrorist training camp at Balakot.
The attack was carried out in retaliation to killing of 40 Indian paramilitary forces in the Indian-administered Kashmir.
The closure of Pakistan’s airspace also affected flights from Afghanistan to New Delhi. According to Indian aviation minister, Indian airlines lost 80m US dollars due to the closure.
