President Ghani meets Afghan negotiating delegation
11 Jul 2019
Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday (10 July) met the afghan delegation who attended the two-day Doha talks, in Qatar.
The 60-member delegation has expressed hope that their efforts could pave the ground for formal talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
Elsewhere, president Ghani said that the only rational way toward peace was that anti-government armed groups should enter direct talks with the government of Afghanistan.
On 7 and 8 of July, a delegation from Afghanistan held direct talks with the Taliban representatives in Qatar. The two sides issued a joint declaration, agreeing on a roadmap to peace.
