Russia has welcomed signing of peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban that paves the ground for withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.

“Signing of the agreement would be an important step for putting an end to war and starting an intra-Afghan negotiation, “Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Moscow has also expressed hope that the intra-Afghan talks could help resolve the existing situation politically.

The United States and the Taliban signed peace agreement on 29th February after months of negotiations. According to the agreement, the intra-Afghan talks is scheduled to be held on 10th March.
