Kunduz, located in northeast Afghanistan, is one of the most insecure provinces in the country.
Some provincial council members and residents of Kunduz say fighting continues in this province and most highways are under Taliban control. Heavy fighting on the outskirts of Kunduz City has made life for Kunduz residents difficult.
Samiullah, a resident of Kunduz, said: Fighting is underway on a daily basis. unfortunately, the government has no operational plans.
Faisal Nuri, another Kunduz resident said: The government is losing its control over Kunduz by each passing day. Kunduz highways are being blocked. Security institutions must finally wake up.
Kunduz Provincial Council also admits that conflicts are underway in areas surrounding Kunduz City. A member of Kunduz provincial council, Ghulan Rabbani, said: The fighting continues throughout Kunduz and the situation is getting worse every day. The local administration and the central government must pay serious attention in this regard.
In the meantime, sources have told Arezo News that at least ten Afghan security forces were killed and ten others were wounded in attacks carried out by Taliban fighters on several security checkpoints in Imam Saheb District.
The 217 Pamir Military Corps says the Taliban have intensified their attacks in different parts of the province over the past weeks. Kunduz residents also warn of fall of parts of the province to the Taliban unless the central government pays attention to the province.
