A member of Badakhshan Provincial Council said Saturday that seven districts in the province had fallen to the Taliban.

“From yesterday evening until today morning, the districts of Kishm, Yaftal, Dryim, Yamgan, Argo, Warduj and Teshkan in the province fell to the Taliban and Afghan security forces have retreated from the areas,” Zakir Arian said.

Mr. Arian has urged the central government to pay serious attention to Badakhshan province.

Local officials have not yet commented on the report.
