An explosion in a coal mine in northern Samangan province of Afghanistan claimed the lives of six workers, officials said on Monday.

The explosion led to the collapse of two tunnels in Darah-e- Sof district of the province.

Confirming the incident, security officials in Samangan province said that the incident happened while workers were illegally digging the coal mine.
