Six security forces were killed in the port town of Islam Qala of western Herat Province.

According to sources, Afghan commando and special forces engaged in heavy clashes with Taliban fighters in Islam Qala. The clashes left six security forces dead, the sources added.

The clashes lasted for several hours and as a result two Humvee vehicles of the Afghan border forces were also destroyed.

Taliban also suffered heavy casualties during the clashes, but the exact number is not clear.
