Spike in violence is not acceptable – Abdullah
23 Sep 2020
Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah says the level of violence in the country has not decreased and that the warring sides should halt violence to attract peoples’ support for the peace process.
“I hope the intra-Afghan negotiations in Doha lead to the end of four decades of bloodshed and conflict, “Abdullah told a virtual meeting of the United States Council on Foreign Relations.
Concurrent with the peace talks, the level of violence is very high which is not acceptable for the people of Afghanistan, Abdullah added.
“Unfortunately, the level of violence is still high. I once again call on the Taliban and those who have leverage on the group to work on the decrease of violence,” he further said.
Elsewhere, chairman of the high council for national reconciliation said that ensuring peace in Afghanistan was to the interests of all regional and international countries.
