Taliban fighters have reportedly launched an aggressive attack on the centre of Chahar Darah District in Kunduz Province, killing eight police forces and injuring 12 others.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a security source has said that the assault was carried out on Wednesday midnight on a checkpoint of police forces. The source added that clashes between Afghan police forces and the Taliban insurgents lasted five hours.

Six Taliban insurgents were also killed in the attack, according to reports.

On the other hand, Police in Kunduz reported that three Taliban militants were arrested and six mines were neutralized from the outskirt of the province.
