Afghan security forces thwarted a car bomb attack by the Taliban in Andar eastern Ghazni Province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Wednesday.

A Taliban suicide bomber intended to carry out a car bomb attack on an army base but was prevented by security forces before reaching his target, the statement added

Afghan security forces engaged in fierce clashes following the failed attempt as a result, three military personnel lost their lives and two others were injured.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the report.
