Taliban attacks in northern Afghanistan kill, injure 40
01 Jan 2020
More than 40 Afghan security forces have been killed and injured in Taliban attacks in two north and northeastern provinces.
At least eight Afghan security forces were killed in a Taliban attack on their outpost in Baba Yusuf area of Balkh district.
Confirming the incident, security officials say that the Taliban attack was thwarted by Afghan security forces.
In a separate report, Taliban carried out a midnight attack on security forces in Dasht-e Archi district of northeastern Kunduz Province, killing 15 soldiers and injuring ten others.
Kunduz provincial council says lack of coordination among security forces is the main cause for an increase in troop casualties.
