Taliban fire rockets on two US bases in Afghanistan south – US officials
31 Aug 2020
Two US airfields in southern province of Afghanistan were hit by several rockets fired by the Taliban, New York Times quoted three US officials as saying.
The rockets hit a joint US-Afghan airfield in southern Afghanistan in recent weeks and a large US military base, New York Times added.
A Taliban commander familiar with the region denied that the group had carried out any strikes on American bases in Helmand and said that the group would investigate. No casualties were reported in the rocket attacks.
The American-led mission in Afghanistan also declined to comment.
