Taliban suffer heavy casualties in Afghan forces’ ground, air attacks

More than 70 Taliban fighters have been killed in Afghan forces’ military operations conducted in volatile regions of the country.

Afghan defense ministry said in statement on Thursday that security forces conducted 22 ground and 22 air operations in various parts of the country, killing 70, injuring 29 and arresting 13 others.

Several hideouts of the Taliban were destroyed during the operations, the statement added.

Taliban have so far not commented on the report.

In a separate report, the defense ministry has released footage of airstrikes on Taliban strongholds in western Herat Province.

Afghan forces targeted several hideouts of the Taliban in Pashtun Zarghon and Obah districts, killing 12 Taliban fighters and injuring two others, according to defense ministry statement.

Earlier, the 207 Zafar Military Corps reported to have conducted an operation code named “Toofan Harirod” in volatile regions of the province.
