Taliban suffer heavy casualties in southern province

More than 50 Taliban fighters were killed in southern Helmand Province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) reported on Sunday.
The Taliban insurgents including a key commander of the group were killed in ground and air operations conducted by Afghan security forces in the outskirts of Lashkargah City, Nawah, Garmsir and Nadali districts, the statement said.
The Taliban shadow governor for Sangin district along with five others were also killed in a separate operation, the defense ministry added.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the report.
