Tens of Afghans protest Pakistani army cross-border shelling
20 Jul 2020
Tens of residents of eastern Nangarhar Province have protested the cross-border shelling by Pakistani army and constructing of a gate along the zero line.
The protesters have warned they will not allow anyone to make a deal on the Durand Line, vowing if the Afghan government fails to respond to Pakistani forces’ rocket firing, they will themselves act swiftly.
Earlier, the Afghan ministry of foreign affairs has stressed the importance of resolving border disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan through diplomatic means.
Kabul called on Islamabad to refrain from “unacceptable” artillery attacks and arbitrary installations, as it can cause further escalations between the two countries.
Pakistani border forces fired several rockets into Sarkato district and Asad Abas county of eastern Kunar Province few days ago, killing five civilians and injuring nine others.
