A traffic accident in Sholgara district of northern Balkh Province claimed the lives of seven people, provincial police spokesman, Adel Shah Adel, said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when a truck collided with a passenger car, he added.

Women and children are among the dead, Adel Shah said.

The truck driver has been arrested and is under investigation in connection with the collision.
