The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has once again voiced concerns about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

“Millions of people in Afghanistan are now starving and the lack of access to health, education and social services has put them in a critical situation,” the UN chief told a UN Security Council meeting.

The United Nations has demanded $8 billion to address humanitarian needs in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons, has called on countries to make funds available to help those in need.
