The United States Chargé d’Affaires in Afghanistan Ross Wilson has urged the Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah, to promptly establish the new government, create the High Council for National Reconciliation, complete the exchange of prisoners, and move to the opening of intra-Afghan negotiations.

“The Afghan people have made clear their impatience. Start intra-Afghan negotiations now so that discussions on a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire can begin,” he added.

In a separate report, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Abdullah and discussed peace-related issues.

The two sides discussed issues concerning the exchange of prisoners, the launch of intra-Afghan talks and implementation of political agreement, Karzai said on his twitter account.
