In the meantime, there are growing concerns in Kabul about intensification of fighting.
Speaking at a ceremony, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), Abdullah Abdullah, criticized lack of internal preparations for the withdrawal of NATO troops, saying that this has put Afghanistan in an exceptional situation.
He also said that the Taliban had taken advantage of the withdrawal of foreign forces and intensified the fighting.
Head of the Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan (IHRC), also said there had been no change in the Taliban’s position on accepting the ceasefire. she reiterated the urgent need for a truce in the country.
The escalation of fighting has sidelined the Doha process to some extent; a process that has been going on for almost ten months, but has not been able to reduce the level of fighting in the country.
