US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the United States opposes creation of a parallel government in Afghanistan.

“The US strongly supports a unified and sovereign #Afghanistan and opposes any effort to establish a parallel government or any use of force to resolve political differences. Prioritizing an inclusive government is paramount for peace,” Pompeo wrote on his twitter account.

Meanwhile, US Special Peace Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad says he is paying efforts to solve the current political disputes and create an all-inclusive government.

Khalilzad added the remarks by two government leaders showed that they were ready to put an end to the political crisis in Afghanistan.

Elsewhere, former NDS chief, Hanif Atmar has warned that creation of a parallel government would lead to the collapse of the country’s political system.

In a statement, Atmar congratulated Ghani on his re-election and insisted that the election disputes were now over after the inauguration ceremony.

Ahmad Walid Masoud, ex-presidential runner said the inauguration ceremonies would lead to the collapse of the current system as well as impacts the peace process.

Rahmatullah Nabil, also said that the inauguration ceremonies would have dangerous consequences.

Some citizens of Afghanistan have also described the government’s action ‘shameful’, adding that they would no longer believe in democratic processes.

They have also urged all politicians to immediately put an end to political tensions and make efforts towards peace through creating a unified administration.
