US peace envoy, Afghan president discuss peace talks

US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Peace Zalmay Khalilzad met with Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in Kabul.
In a released statement, the Afghan Presidential Palace (Arg) said that the two sides discussed issues concerning the reconciliation process.
Earlier, in his trip to Kabul, Khalilzad held talks with Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, Director General of Administrative Office of the Afghan President Salam Rahimi, Afghan High Peace Council (HPC) Secretary Mohammad Omar Daudzai, government delegation for peace and some jihadi leaders.
In his meeting with Afghan CEO, Khalizad said that an “inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue, ceasefire, and a comprehensive peace agreement are the key components of negotiations with the Taliban.”
The US peace envoy arrived in Kabul yesterday evening (1 April). He is scheduled to visit Pakistan, Jordan, Qatar, and Uzbekistan.
