US to draw down troops in Afghanistan to 4,500

The US military is drawing down to 4,500 troops in Afghanistan by November, the head of U.S Central Command said Wednesday.
“We’re on a glide slope (in Afghanistan) to be at 4,500 by the November time frame, late October, November time frame,” Marine Gen. Kenneth McKenzie said in an interview with VOA.
Earlier, the US President Donald Trump said he was planning to reduce the number of American troops in Afghanistan to 4,000.
Based on the US-Taliban agreement reached on February 29 in Doha, Washington has to withdraw in 14 months.
