Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswomen Maria Zakharova has accused the United States of aggravating the political crisis and creating stalemate in Afghanistan.

addressing a press conference Mrs. Zakharova said: “The United States had a hand in aggravation of political crisis, because the country recognized the victory of an Afghan politician in the presidential elections. This is in contradiction with the three-way agreement.”

Stressing the importance of resolving the crisis of political power in Afghanistan, she added: “Russia urges all key international political actors to act coordinately in breaking the current standoff in Afghanistan.”

Elsewhere, Mrs Zakharova accused the Afghan leadership of delaying the exchange of Taliban prisoners and said such an act would harm the intra-Afghan talks.

“The current Afghan leadership had delayed the exchange of Taliban inmates which is one of the basic conditions to start intra-Afghan talks,” she further added.
