The US Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Ross Wilson in a series of tweets said that his country was not advocating an interim government in Afghanistan.

“We have not advocated, and the United States is not advocating, an interim government.  The outcomes of Afghanistan Peace Negotiations are up to Afghans & we believe those outcomes should reflect the wishes & aspirations of the Afghan people,” he said.

The US diplomat added that “Washington was committed to bringing about an end to conflict in Afghanistan through a political settlement that ensures this country remains sovereign, unified & democratic, is at peace with itself and its neighbors & can preserve gains made over the last 19 years.”

Elsewhere, reiterating Pakistan’s support to the Afghan peace process, Pakistani Prime Minister underscored that “the Intra-Afghan Negotiations process must be pursued with perseverance and patience for an inclusive and broad-based solution.”

Imran khan underscored the importance of reduction of violence leading to ceasefire.
