Amnesty International emphasizes on immunity of human rights activists
17 Mar 2021
Amnesty International calls on the Government of Afghanistan to work for the protection of human rights activists.
The organization issued a statement saying that given the new wave of threats against human rights activists in Afghanistan, government officials should take immediate action to protect them.
Earlier, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced that 11 human rights activists had been killed in targeted attacks since the start of peace talks.
Amnesty International has expressed concern that attacks and threats against human rights defenders have increased in Afghanistan over the past three months.
