Death toll rises to 63 in Kabul hotel blast, 182 injured

Death toll from last night’s explosion in a wedding hall in Kabul’s sixth security precinct has risen to 63 people, as 182 others have including women and children have sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses say a suicide bomber detonated explosives during a wedding ceremony at 22:40 local time.

The Taliban have denied any involvement in the explosion, but the group has strongly condemned it. No other group has admitted carrying out the attack.

The blast, which took place late on Saturday in west Kabul, came as Washington and the Taliban are in the final stages of a deal to reduce the US military presence in Afghanistan.
