At least 22 Taliban fighters were killed and injured in an aerial raid conducted by Afghan forces in northeastern Takhar Province, the defense ministry said in a statement.

The aerial raid was carried out on Taliban hideouts in Dasht-e Qala district, killing 17 Taliban fighters and injuring five others, the statement added.

The attack destroyed two Taliban strongholds, a vehicle and six motorcycles, according to the statement.

Taliban have so far not commented on the report.
