14 Jan 2021
Ismail Khan, Jihadi leader and a member of the leadership committee of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), said Tuesday that an interim government was the solution to the current problems.
Mr. Ismail Khan has also called on the country’s politicians to work to protect the ruling system, but stressed that the government has no determination to ensure peace in the country.
Earlier, Atta Mohammad Noor, the executive chief of Hezb-e Jamiat-e Islami had said that he supported an interim government.
Meanwhile, the second vice president, Sarwar Danish, speaking at a meeting in Kabul said that “some people should not obey the illegitimate demands of the enemies of the country by proposing an interim government, and instead they should strengthen the republic’s line to achieve lasting peace.”
Mr. Danish added: “Those who sometimes chant the slogan of the government believe that peace is only possible with the establishment of an interim government.”
This comes as the US Chargé d’Affaires Ross Wilson to Afghanistan Ross Wilson said Wednesday that the US was not advocating an interim government, adding that the outcomes of Afghanistan Peace Negotiations are up to Afghans & we believe those outcomes should reflect the wishes & aspirations of the Afghan people.
